The first Synth Camp was organized at Kulturhus Björkboda on June 16-18, 2023. It was a weekend-long, small-scale gathering in the spirit of a LAN party, i.e. bring your synths and gadgets to the old-school ballroom, there will be a plug and a channel for the mixer.

The theme of 2024 Synth Camp was tracker music. Trackers were the first common music making programs for home computers, which greatly democratized music production. Tracker music is a key part of the demoskene phenomenon, which has a strong foundation in Finland and on which our current strong gaming industry is based.

In April 2020, the Ministry of Education and Culture added the demo scene representing Finnish digital culture to the list of Living Heritage. The partly nostalgic use of Träkkers has become more common in recent years, especially in the modular-synthesizer scene, and there have been numerous hardware-based versions of them.

We have invited to the Synth Camp 2024 event key Finnish tracker musicians who gained great international recognition in their time, such as Aleksi "Heatbeat" Eeben, Sami "Groo" Järvinen, Juha "Di33y" Kujanpää, Mikko Dean Lipiäinen. The Experimental Electronics Society (koelse.org) and Dmitri Zherbin's Noisebox workshop are also included.

In connection with Synth Camp 2024, we organize open workshops and concerts for the public. At Synth Camp, we aim to revive the synamite tradition born around modular drums, which was suppressed in Finland at the time of covid 2020-2021.
